Details: This workshop offers training sessions that provide an opportunity to gain understanding, skill and practice in deliberative decision making. National Issues Forums is a proven format used nationally and internationally to convene constructive deliberative forums in communities, organizations and among individuals on a wide range of public policy issues. Workshop participants will observe and participate in dialogues and forums; become acquainted with available National Issues Forums (NIF) materials; understand the connection of what people value to choices about issues, and appreciate the importance of deliberation in identifying the public's perspective; practice moderating forums and study circles; and discuss how to organize NIF programs in their communities. We will be using these NIF Discussion guides in the training:
Illegal Drugs: What Should We Do Now?
Examining Health Care: What's the Public Prescription?
A Nice Place to Live: Creating Communities
